Professional Ethics and Attorney Misconduct Lawyer
Nicholas C. Cooper—Attorney-At-Law

It does not matter whether you are a lawyer practicing in Westchester or Suffolk County  or in New York City, misconduct allegations and complaints against you must be taken seriously.

Nicholas C. Cooper has been practicing attorney discipline, a very limited field of law, for over 35 years. His practice for the last 25 years has been focused exclusively on defense of attorney disciplinary cases and to the providing of expert opinions and ethical advice to attorneys on all issues related to lawyers’ professional responsibilities and legal ethics. He does not practice in any other area of law.

This extremely limited practice enables him to provide an ultra-attentive focus not just on his clients and their cases, but also on this narrow field of law.

On The Record
Prior to entering private practice, Nicholas C. Cooper served in official capacities as Chief Counsel to the Departmental Disciplinary Committee in the Appellate Division of the First Judicial Department, and as Chief Counsel to the Grievance Committee in the Appellate Division of the Second Judicial Department.

He is admitted to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and before the U.S. Supreme Court and is a member of the New York State and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.

He has written numerous articles on attorney discipline and legal ethics and professional responsibility published in the “Outside Counsel” section of the New York Law Journal.

He has also appeared as counsel in over 100 reported Appellate Division attorney disciplinary cases. And on one occasions, he made new law in a Court of Appeals case [link to list of reported cases].

Why Take a Chance
Even though relatively few of these complaints go beyond the initial investigative phase, diligent and focused representation is essential.

If you are required to answer a misconduct complaint filed against you or to give a deposition, speak with an experienced New York City lawyer.  A misconduct allegation, no matter how frivolous it may appear, should not be taken lightly. Contact Nicholas C. Cooper today.
